In Sinc

I have been collecting indigos and recently acquired the above indigos from a deceased guild member's stash. I've thought of making evening stars, baskets, etc., but nothing clicked until I was looking through a 1992 quilt magazine and saw a quilt made of little churn dash blocks set on point with double pink setting squares-YES that's it! I was looking at the photo and figuring out the unit and block measurements to use (no pattern in the mag.)and had decided on 5 inch blocks with 2 inch h.s. triangle units and 1 inch center square and side rectangles. This was just last night. ...Then this morning I looked at Bonnie Hunter's blog post for today and she showed how she was cutting out and kitting up 5 inch churn dash blocks and using the same measurements I had thought of!

This Weeks Quilting

Basted and started the quilting on Chrissy's graduation quilt. Went to Bonnie Hunter's Pineapple Blossom class on Tuesday, finished 8 blocks in class, here are four of them on the church pew I used for a design wall. A very good class, personal attention and relaxed.

Graduation Quilt Progress

I designed an applique border for the corners of the inner border, used the glue over freezer paper method of preparation, and machine appliqued with a tiny zigzag stitch in matching 60 wt. Mettler thread. Used my Perfect Circles templates to make the center circles in the flowers. Got the outer borders on - the top is finished.
One week til the party, plenty of time to quilt it!

Pineapple Blossom Class

I've got my strips cut(most from my scraps from other quilts and a few from fat quarters in my stash) and ready for Bonnie Hunter's class next Tuesday!

Paducah!

Took a one day bus trip last Saturday. Fabulous quilts; need more than one day to stand in front of them with mouth hanging open in awe! I covered it pretty well, and the vendors-controlled myself and didn't buy too much. Kept to my vow not to buy any more kits until I get some finished (only because a booth was out of "Thistle and Thicket" kit that caught my eye!)Found the Pieces of Time pattern I've been looking for, golden threads paper, fabric for Chrissy's border and some Wm Morris fabric.
As I was entering the showroom, saw Ricky Tims come through the doorway. I bought one of his C.D.s at his booth from Justin. Nice guys. Maybe I can take his class and/or go to his concert in the future.
Next year I hope to get a room and stay for at least 2 days.
