Batik HSTs Came!

Look what was on my doorstep this morning! The Batiks-R-Us exchange- they are from a lot of different states, and Australia, Canada, and England. What fun!

Back in My Sewing Room

I'm putting together Raspberry Truffle triangles into rows, it's going slowly because of my need to match up so many points. To take a break from that, I got out my overflowing basket of selvages and made some selvage quilt blocks. That is a lot of fun-goes fast sewing them onto foundation muslin and then trimming up.

Booth at QuiltFest

Even though I mostly machine quilt now, I was asked to do a booth at the show for hand quilting; probably because I was in charge of the raffle quilt two years ago which was hand quilted. Guild members came to my home where the frame was set up to quilt on it, and I did a lot of it also.
The idea of the booth was to encourage others to learn hand quilting, for one reason so that we can continue to hand quilt guild projects in the future. We did have some interest, and people who sat down to try it out.

2011 QuiltFest

Our guild's quilt show was last weekend. Here are the 5 bed quilts I entered. Autumn in New England was also shown in the wall hangings, but I must not have gotten a photo of it.

Where Have I Been?

Germany!  DH and I just got back last Friday from a two week trip to visit his daughter who lives there, and to do some sightseeing. One of the sights I saw on the first day we were there was a quilt shop in the town where she works. Grundi's Quilt Heaven. A small shop with American fabrics and patterns-I bought a cute chicken pattern and a fat quarter (of Thimbleberries). In another village we visited there was a small yarn/general fabric shop. Inside was wonderful German- made wool yarn, I bought two skeins of beautiful sock yarn (now I need to learn to knit socks). No cotton quilting fabric to speak of there, except for a small bin of fat quarters-I bought two of those. Spending Euros feels like play money!
