Feb. 10, 2014

Weather is very wintry cold and snowy; I am getting things done!

Baby quilt for Henry is done. (I did go to the shop and after seeing how much a new bobbin case would cost - over $100!), I took the screw off my bobbin case and was able to snap the spring back into the slot. Yay!! Works just fine.

Baby Quilt Progress and Delay

On Wednesday I started machine quilting Henry's quilt, in the ditch with the walking foot, and couldn't get the stitch to look right. I rethreaded the machine, changed needle, moved upper tension-all to no avail. Alas! Found that the bobbin case is broken, because there is no lower tension at all. I tried tightening the bobbin case screw, but that didn't do anything. The hook must have bent or loosened when I dropped the case the other day. Will have to take a trip to Rochester to have the shop repair or replace. It's so darn cold I haven't been leaving the house-but this afternoon it's supposed to get up to the upper 20's so I may go.

December Retreat

Went for a short retreat from December 5 to 7th at Threads and Beds in Danville.
Finished the baby quilt top for DH's first grandbaby (a boy) coming in January.

Worked on Classic Strippy from Bonnie Hunter's book "Adventures with Leaders and Enders".
Made the "fivesies" units while sewing other projects over the past couple of years.
Who knew there were so many ways to sew red triangles onto fivesies units? and only one right way! Spent a lot of time with my seam ripper, but eventually made parallelograms pointing in the right direction.
