Basting Done

It was snowing and blowing today, guild meeting was cancelled so I stayed in the house and got the Presidents Quilt basted. It took most of the day and I ran out of pins. Was not going out in this weather to buy more, so I finished the last fourth of the basting with thread. I saw a video of Sharon Schamber thread basting for machine quilting so I'll see how it works for me. The key is to take out the thread as you come to it while quilting.

Borders

The borders are all on the President's Quilt. This is my first attempt at using a border stripe fabric and making mitered corners.I used the tape method and am happy with the way it turned out. Now on to basting.

Stars Quilt Done!!

Here it is, all done! Finished stitching the binding down and put on the label last night. Ready to enter into QuiltFest 2010.

Alyssa's Quilt progress

No school on Monday for Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday. Alyssa and I ate lunch at Panera, and then worked on her quilt at my house. We sewed on machines side by side, she was on the Elna and I on the Bernina.
This is a picture of it on the design wall, the rows are almost all together.

Quilting is finished!

Free motion meandering in first border with white thread, using golden paper to do a cable with the variegated thread in the second border, and the binding is being hand stitched. The end is in sight!
