Finally Quilting a UFO

While RRCB is developing, I got out some UFO's to work on (and finish at long last!) This is one of the oldest - Birds in the Air, an Eleanor Burns Quilt in a Day pattern (ha, ha - this has been just a top for several years). I pin basted it and am DSM quilting it in the ditch with the walking foot on the "bird areas" and free motion with the BSR and Golden Threads paper on the "nest" areas.

I'm Back

Well, life got in the way of my blogging, but I will catch up now.
Some blocks of Roll Roll Cotton Bowl are on the design wall. I got way behind with the steps when the holidays came, and then family stuff happened - so I looked ahead to see the finished quilt on Bonnie's blog; and I've decided to branch off in another direction. I really like the churn dash blocks (but without the busy sawtooth border) and the string blocks - but I am seeing two different quilts! So they will hang out on the wall for a while and I'll see what evolves.

Six of Ten in 2010, Happy New Year

I didn't get Illinois Sampler's backing stitched on the 31st, got too sleepy to keep my eyes open at about 11 p.m. But I did finish it today, Jan. 1 and since it is a holiday I will count it anyway. And I will get the label done tomorrow, so because that is a Sunday and still the holiday weekend, it will still count. (My quilting, my rules!)  I missed the guild deadline anyway, since it was way back on the day of our party on the second Wed. of December.

The best news of all, I retired on Dec. 31-sewing room here I come! It's going to be a great, quilty 2011.
