Started my granddaughter's graduation quilt, and finished the block for the guild's day group's outgoing president.

Applique

After seeing some beautiful applique quilts at our show, I was inspired to get out my hand applique project- block #6 of Applique Affair (Edyta Sitar's pattern). Got some wash-away freezer paper; that I learned about from Beth Ferrier's website - it worked very well. Traced the pieces onto the paper (the sheets would fit into a printer also), ironed it on back of the fabric, cut out with seam allowance (3/16th inch) and then turned and glued them - no pokies! When the stitching was finished, instead of cutting away the foundation fabric to get freezer paper out, all you do is rinse the block in warm water and it comes out nice and soft. Love this method!

Sewing This Week

Made a cute little paper-pieced house block for the guild's evening meetings chairperson, did a feather design (my first attempt) machine quilting on my Illinois Sampler, sewed some blocks on Autumn, and made some prairie points for Il. Sampler.
